Carol Ann Dufrene
Her mother taught theology at SSA for many years, and Dufrene remembers walking from St. Peter’s after school to meet her on campus. She later became a student herself, graduating in 2004 before earning a degree in social studies education and a master’s in educational leadership. After beginning her career at the Academy of the Sacred Heart in New Orleans, where she taught AP Government and Psychology and served as Dean of Students, she returned to SSA in 2021 as Dean of Students. She later served as Associate Head of School before becoming Head of School.
“I often joke that I have one son and 600 daughters,” Dufrene says. It is a lighthearted description of a responsibility she takes seriously. She cares deeply about who SSA’s students are today and the women they are becoming.
