The Corporate Giver: Caitlin Hunter

As corporate affairs representative for Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico business unit headquartered in Covington, Caitlin Hunter is responsible for helping the company serve and support the local community. As someone who is passionate about giving back, this is a role she fills with ease. “I’m very proud to work for a company that gives so much to the community and encourages its employees to become personally involved through volunteering,” Hunter says.
While Chevron is a multinational brand, Hunter’s work is such that it keeps her focused at the local level, honed in on what the corporation can do at home. “I love my job because it allows me to build relationships with various civic and charitable leaders and make valuable contributions the Northshore,” she says. “This is both professionally and personally rewarding. My responsibilities are also dynamic and multifaceted, which keeps my work interesting and challenging. My position allows me to be a part of Chevron’s efforts to make a difference and offers me a sense of purpose as we make a positive impact in the communities we serve.
“My passion for giving stems from a combination of personal values, awareness of social responsibility, and a desire to make a positive impact,” she goes on. “Like many people, I have a great deal of empathy, which drives me to help others. My sense of purpose gives me deep fulfillment when I can contribute to meaningful causes. My father, Dan O’Sullivan, was a special education teacher in Slidell for over 30 years, and he taught me the importance of giving at an early age. It’s really rewarding and motivating to play a small part in making a positive difference in the world.”
Some of Hunter’s favorite initiatives through Chevron have been STEM education programs such as Project Lead the Way, as well as robotics clubs and working with area school boards on curriculum implementation. “Our youth development programs support, empower and educate at-risk children and teens, helping them build essential life skills and a better future,” she says. “I’m very grateful to community members like treasurer John Schroder, Parish President Mike Cooper, and Mayor Mark Johnson for introducing me to some of the Northshore’s amazing nonprofit organizations and their initiatives.”
Alongside Chevron’s Gulf of Mexico’s Corporate Affairs Team, Hunter has also been working with Humanity St. Tammany West and Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Louisiana for over ten years. She has also sat on the HFHSTW board of directors for the last three years. “I am passionate about working with organizations like Habitat and the Boys & Girls Clubs because they make a meaningful impact in our community,” she says. “The Boys & Girls Club gives young people a safe and nurturing environment, helping them build a foundation for a great future. And Habitat’s mission of providing affordable housing resonates with my belief in the importance of stability. Working with these organizations, I’ve had opportunities to contribute to positive change and help those in need, which is incredibly fulfilling.”
