Community Leader: Lily Cummings
Lily Cummings’ journey is one of passion, perseverance, and purpose. As a reporter and fill-in anchor at WWL-TV since 2022, she has dedicated herself to telling the stories of southeast Louisiana with authenticity and heart. For Lily, journalism isn’t just a job—it’s a calling.
Her career began in her hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2020. Returning to New Orleans, a city that had already captured her heart during her undergraduate years at Loyola University, was a full-circle moment. “WWL-TV has served the ‘greater good’ of our community since 1957, and I have a deep respect for its rich history,” Lily says. With roots in both the city and its vibrant culture, she’s committed to continuing that legacy.
Lily’s path to her current role is a testament to her grit and determination. Starting as a desk assistant while still in college, she worked tirelessly, balancing internships with WDSU and CBS News in New York City before securing her first on-air role in Tulsa. At just 22, she won an Emmy for her reporting, proving that age is no barrier when talent and dedication align.
