The House That Love Built
They say that love makes a house a home, and the saying couldn’t be more fitting for the home that sits at 588 Northwoods Drive. Perfectly situated with a view of the 16th green and the 17th tee in the golf and country club community of Money Hill, the property also overlooks a lake bordered by pine trees, giving it a sense of peace and serenity that is often hard to find—and an idyllic charm perfect for creating a sanctuary.
It was with the future in mind that Cindy Piazza Schick and her husband, Allen, built their house, completing construction of the 10,403 square-foot home in 2016. A golf lover, Allen appreciated the location of the property and dreamed of retirement, while Cindy had visions of large family gatherings. “We built the house with the goal in mind to make it a comfortable home for our children and grandchildren for the holidays and long weekends,” says Cindy, who formerly owned a Pilates studio and currently owns Annunciation Restaurant in the Warehouse District on the Southshore. “Five of our children live on the South Shore, and one is in Lafayette. I love and enjoy having them come here and spending long weekends, especially at Christmas and Thanksgiving. Two of our sons enjoyed playing golf with my husband; and while the guys played golf, my daughters and daughters-in-law would hang around the kitchen with me, cooking and sharing a bottle of wine (or two) and talking. The grandkids enjoyed riding in the golf cart, playing in the fountain in front of the house, using our large Jacuzzi as a swimming pool. Their favorite thing was to have sleepovers in the media room. We’ve also held engagement parties here for nieces and nephews along with having my entire family come over for Father’s Day and Thanksgiving. I come from a very large family with eight siblings, so we’ve hosted gatherings of over 50 people.”
