SuperDad: Dr. Clint “C.J.” Schoolfield

The Heart and Soul of the Northshore

Meet Dr. Clint Schoolfield, a general surgeon at Ochsner, the largest health system in Louisiana. Since joining Ochsner in 2018, Dr. Schoolfield has exemplified the commitment to both his profession and his family, balancing the demands of a rigorous medical career with the joys and challenges of fatherhood.

After beginning his journey with Ochsner in Kenner, Dr. Schoolfield transitioned to Slidell Memorial Hospital, which facilitated a move to Mandeville—an area he and his wife, Nicole, had always envisioned as their family’s home. “We knew we wanted to end up on the Northshore,” he shares, reflecting on their decision to settle in the close-knit community.

Dr. Schoolfield and Nicole’s story is one of dedication, resilience, and love. They met in 2012 while living in New Orleans. He was wrapping up his medical studies at LSUHSC, and she was working in journalism. Their relationship flourished despite the miles between them during his residency in Shreveport. They married in New Orleans in 2016, welcoming their first child, Harrison, the following year.
